Lenses
Steven asked me about lenses, so here is some quick info.
I have:
-
Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM Telephoto Zoom Lens for Canon SLR Cameras
– Totally awesome, need to learn when/how to use it better. Don’t use it enough.
-
Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC HSM Lens for Canon Digital SLR Cameras
– My favorite lens. I love wide angled landscapes and this lets me do it with my EF-S shaped body (Rebel XTi)
-
Canon EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 Image Stabilized USM SLR Lens for EOS Digital SLR’s
– Very good all around lens. Great for outdoors but even with flash it’s hard to get great indoor shots w/movement. That’s why I’m wanting the 2.8 version below.
-
Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II Camera Lens
– Neat, “inexpensive” lens. It’s good, but it’s not great.
I want:
-
Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM Standard Zoom Lens for Canon SLR Cameras
– “The wedding lens.” I have been told. Basically a great standard focal length, but also a big enough f-stop to let you take pictures indoors too.
-
Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L IS USM 1-to-1 Macro Lens for Canon Digital SLR Cameras
– Took some awesome pictures with the standard 100mm macro that I rented. It makes stuff like Kristen’s jewlery look awesome. Think it can work well as a portait lens too, but don’t know much about portraits.
- A Really open lens like a f/1.4L 50mm or something. I see some shots that other people make, and think I need this kind of lens to do it.
